A freight broker is a licensed intermediary that connects shippers with carriers — sourcing capacity, negotiating rates, and managing the logistics of a shipment without physically transporting the freight. A carrier owns and operates the trucks that move the freight. Using a broker like Total Connection gives shippers access to a much larger carrier pool than they could maintain directly, along with compliance management and operational support.
How do I know if I need FTL or LTL?
FTL is generally the right choice when your shipment exceeds 10,000 to 15,000 pounds, fills more than half a standard trailer, requires dedicated space for safety or security reasons, or has a time-sensitive delivery. LTL makes sense for smaller shipments — typically under 10,000 pounds and fewer than 10 to 12 pallets. Total Connection can review your freight details and recommend the most cost-effective option.
Do you handle hazmat truckload freight?
Yes — and this is one of our genuine strengths. Our carrier network includes certified hazmat carriers trained to move DOT-regulated materials safely and in compliance with 49 CFR requirements. We manage classification, documentation, placarding, and carrier certification as part of every hazmat truckload shipment. What equipment types do you source?
